Frank Churchill is remembered for his contributions to some of the classic Disney movies. He composed the music for that company’s first full-length animated movie, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” released in 1937. In collaboration with Oliver Wallace, Churchill won an Academy Award for Best Score for work on “Dumbo” (1941). Sadly, he committed suicide in May 1942, while at work on the music for “Bambi.”

The biography of Churchill available on the Disney website indicates that he was influenced by the work of Franz Schubert, and that he got his first professional gig as a musician when he was 15: playing the piano to accompany silent movies at a theatre in Ventura, California. Less information
